Monday Madness - 1 week left

Barflys and Bojan Insurance head to the finals in the Monday Mens League

The playoffs started last night and Chris Matza's team pulled off the upset beating 10K decisively to advance to the championship round.

Bojan Insurance put an end the the Cinderella season of the King Family/Gimena/Missing Linker...too bad...it would have been kind of cool to see the Kings in the finals.

Instead of the Kings we just have a Queen versus the BarFlys. Just kidding.

Lots of fireworks last night during discussion about the leagues future. Next Monday should be very interesting. Here is the formula for league problems...Hard times + Hard Shot + Sand Baggers + 1 lop sided pot = lose teams and get no new teams.

Nobody wants this league to succeed more than me but since the horse has already left the barn, we have to now be like all of the Obama followers and have hope...hope for a brighter future, hope for a better day, hope for more teams..."yes we can, yes we can, yes we can"...

On a less serious note, here are Monday's winners:

C Matzaball 204

  1. LOU THIS LEAGUE WAS A GREAT LEAGUE WHEN MIKE LEASE RAN IT. BUT POOP HAPPENS ALOT OF BOWLERS THAT WE LOST ALL THEY WANTED IS A FARE SHOT ON THE LANES.THIS LEAGUE IS KNOWEN AS A HARD SHOT I THINK A HARD SHOT SHOULD BE FOR A SCARCH LEAGUE AND NOT A HANDYCAP LEAGUE. BUT NOW ADAYS YOU HAVE SOME GOOD AND BAD BOWLERS LIKE ME WE WANT TO HAVE FUN AND BOWL IN A LEAGUE WITH GUYS THAT WANT TO HAVE FUN. AND BOWL ON MODAY NIGHTS. I HOPE THE LEAGUE STAYS TOGETHER BUT IF IT CRAPS OUT YOU CAN BLAME THE LEAGUE FOR IT.

  2. Way to man up and put your actual name King WooHoo. Or is this another situation where Lou is putting a fake name to try and stir the pot.

  3. After being in this league for more than half a century I have seen it go from a full league to what we have now. Guys in the league have change dramatically, equipment has changed, the lanes have changed, but the strange thing is that we still follow rules that were set up 12 years ago for this league. The shot was decided 12 years ago to be the hardest shot for River Rand. Just as the league has changed so should many of the rules you can't keep following old rules with major changes in bowling. I tried to keep quiet all year long but it seems we are at the point of no return. I can see were many people are coming from but when we ( as a league ) decided to have a hard shot, who decides which hard shot? (the reverse block or viper patter, there are many hard shots) As for sandbagging ( and trust me I have hear it all the time ) The suggestions that were brought up were great! 1. would be to collect pots at the beginning of the night by the third frame and than by the end of the 8th frame in the 3rd game we would pull at random which game would be the doubles pot, so that nobody would know which game they need to shoot good they just need to try for all 3. As for the ten pin drop rule that was brought up, it would not work in our league because taking a look at last year averages more than 60% of our league would fall in that category. As for bringing back the fun I think we have a great group of guys but who wants to come out spend money and struggle to shoot low scores? I am not one to complain much but my team leads the season in points won and yet we won with incredibly low score and have not had as much fun as we did in the past when we were low in the league. The atmosphere on Monday has changed and things require an immediate change. As for league officers everybody knew the shot got hard the day the machine had to be adjusted at that point in time the league officers should of brought everybody together and explained the situation as not everybody was very pleased with the result. I hear that at any time things are be wrong we can call a captains meeting but I think the league officers should take a bit of responsibility and step up and take charge and talk about issues before they get out of hand. The league officers also bowl in the league and they them self knew the shot got a lot tougher when the oil machine was adjusted at that point they should of gone around and just found out what other people thoughts were also ( not that hard to go around and talk to 12 teams and see how they are doing and how they feel about the league) Why wait until people are upset and bring it up to you? Step up as a league officer and see what's going on with the league that you are not only in charge of but also running. I am not blaming the league officers for the down fall it's all of our fault everybody should of stepped up to the plate and said something. I think we all talk amongst our team ( I hear it all the time) but we need to come together as a league and decide on new rules ( Yes we can) As for Lou's Blog ( don’t ask why I am defending him) Many of the things he writes about are concerns he hears from others he does not just come up with it all by himself ( or so we hope) it just seems that people feel more power going to LOU than the league as they know he will write about it and it will get everybody's attention. I agree it's not the right way to go about it but it does show that people care and that things need a change. I would love for Monday to continue but in this path it does not seem it's going to happen. I hope nobody takes my opinion personally as I said before we have a great group of guys but we need to all speak up to get things back to having FUN! TOM G

  8. TOMMY IS RIGHT ON AND AS OF KING WOOHOO ITS NOT LOU WHO WROTE THAT. ITS CAPT. OF WTF ! AND WAZY THIS IS PAT KING WRITING.

  9. I know King W. was you Pat. I was letting Rob know who you were. In his first comment he did not know who King W. was ya big numbnut. Love ya. My comment at 12:14 adresses that the Rob and Wazy posts at 10:24 and 10:39 are from someone other than us. I agree that Tommy makes great points as to what is going on and what should go on. He also kinda throws the league officers under the bus, not really a big fan of that only because he forgot to mention that one of the league officers bowls on his team, any idea who that is Mr. Vice President?

  10. I am now the ex VP I had it as VP the only ones that run this league is Reimer, Saffold and Craig who runs the lanes. England is fine as the money man becouse his wife does the bookkeeping. And what does the VP do anyways?

    ReplyDelete
  11. S.P. Tommy G. is still my freind even if he pushed me under the BUS. I will aways have him on my team.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I agree that the VP does jack sh-t.That's no excuse, you can't resign office, you have to be assassinated. Hell our VP on Wed actually goes against the Sec and Pres on alot of important issues. Then again our VP is the Louchebag himself. I almost wouldn't mind if the England duo took over and did both Sec and Treasure stuff. We could give Sue a salary and stuff. Let's not forget that Saffold took the job cuz nobody else wanted it.
Gimena, don't get him goin, He's a fiesty little devil.

  13. just a heads up I did blame everybody including myself for the way things are going to end up, but at the end of the day my job sports or anywhere else it usually comes down to who is supposed to be running the show and in bowling that equals league officers. I did not mean any harm or throw anybody under the buss It's just my opinion. I just would really like to bring things back to the way things are let's just hope everybody has some great ideas on Monday to bring us back to HAVING FUN

  14. Tom, you really hurt my feelings with that blog. I don't know if I can ever forgive you.

  15. Mr. Wazy thats not true nobody asked if they wanted the job. What is so hard about the Sec. job. Mike Lease knew who wanted the job. But Mike did not want that person to have the job.

  16. Its the Good Old Boy Network at River Rand

  17. Obviously written by someone who has no idea what the Sec. of a league does or his obligations. Ask Kevin Reinfart how flippin easy it is to deal with it all.At the captains meeting, anyone can be nominated for any position, the captains then vote on who they would think would do the best job. It's obvious Mike didn't think that person could handle the job. Probably because that person had the same idea as yourself that it's an easy job. Don't get pissed off people, relax, the Hawks are on tonight.
See what happens when Gimena goes off, I love that guy. see ya tonight Tommy.

  18. Oh yeah,

Good to see others finally out on the ole blog. A little friendly banter is
good for you every now and then.

  19. I have been reading this blog for over a year now, most of the time with great amusement. I have never commented on anything written here but I feel compelled to do so now. I DO NOT pick & choose the league officers. I made it known midway through the season last year that I was stepping down as league secretary and anyone that was interested in taking the position should speak up at the end of year meeting. When I announced at the meeting that a new secretary needed to be elected and anyone interested should speak up...NO one did. Jim Saffold took the position because no one else wanted it. I am sick & damn tired of hearing that I gave the position to Saffold. I didn't give him sh*t. It wasn't my position to give it to him. He was elected in, again like I said cause no one else spoke up. Anyone who knows anything about league bowling & how a league is set up & run should know this. If you are interested in a position as a league officer, then speak the hell up & let it be known. I have been involved in this league in one form or another since 1992 & as far as I can tell, this league as been in existence for 35-40 years. At one time this league was the flagship league at River Rand. Now it should be called The Bit*h & Moan league because that's all that seems to be happening anymore. If you have a problem or concern about what is going on in the league (ex: pots, the shot, an officer not doing his job, etc) then speak the hell up & call a meeting to express your concerns. You have the right to call a captains meeting if you have a problem or concern. Don't walk around & bit*h to other bowlers...DO something about it !! As far as I can tell, there isn't a mind reader in the league so SPEAK UP

  20. After speaking to Pat last night, his reason behind why Mike didn't want him to be secretary differs from my previous statement. After speaking with the best Secretary I have ever known last night, the difference between good and ok secretaries is a ton. If you just do the basics, it could be an easy job, depends on what you want out of the job.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Thats right Jim took the job Mike and you knew there was someone eles who wanted the job. Like I said the GOOD OLD BOY NETWORK.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Pat...If you wanted the job so bad....WHY didn't you say something at the meeting? You have to offer your services at the meeting or be nominated which you didn't offer & weren't nominated. So I don't understand why suddenly with 1 week left to go in the season...Now it's a problem??

    ReplyDelete
  23. Well Mike you knew I wanted the job midseason last year you could of nominated me. But No You Wanted Jim becouce He has been in the league long than I. Mike I love you man and I'm not trying to put you down. You where the Monday league. And you would have call more meeting if you would of been Sec. YES YES YES I was VP and I could have Call Meetings But most everyone in the league thinks I dont take bowling seriously. I love coming to Monday night bowling to have fun and try my best. Yes, i am not a good bowler, but there a lot of bowlers like me in this league. So people in this league that want change should open up thier mouth Monday, including me, and lets vote for some change and fair rules for everyone and keep Monday night men's league strong, like it was in the past.

Thank you very much from your Vice President,
I AM NOT A CROOK! WTF? Pat King

  24. This is one of the better banters we have had in a long time...keep busting each others balls...this is great...

    ReplyDelete
  25. I didn't think that it was right for me to nominate anyone, thats why I opened up the floor for nominations. Someone from your team could have & should have nominated you. Hell you are related to half your team. Bop one of them upside the head & tell them to nominate you. It really didn't matter to me who took over running the league as long as the rest of the league was comfortable with it. You are right that the league members need to speak up at the meeting so the league continues & everyone or most everyone (cause you can't keep everyone happy) are happy. This is what the league used to be about & needs to get back to...busting each others balls & having a good time.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Lou I like all the guy in the league I dont think I'm busting anyones balls.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I feel left out, can someone do something to my balls? Saff not included, sorry Jim. Hey Lease, please keep the comments to less than 1'000 words. Lou can't pay attention that long. Oh yeah
Mike, what position would you like get Saff in. Not that's funny, I don't care whou you are.

    Luv ya all

  28. Wazy, there is seriously something wrong with you...you are always talking about balls?!

What the heck is copierking? I thought you sold shower doors? You are not busting balls but Wazy is dreaming of balls...

  29. Lou my family owns a company I use to work for and they sold copiers / Fax Machines / Network Laser Printers. I do not work there any more but my e-mail is copierking.

  30. Wazy..maybe you have been spending toooo much time with the boys in the bar after bowling listening to disco music.

  31. You are all a bunch of sick bastards. I was speaking of bowling balls, I mean, this is a bowling discussion isn't it? I am very surprised at you Lease. I expected more out of you.
