Andy L leads qualifying in the BBT Spring Major

Shoots 735 to lead the pack

The BBT Spring Major kicked off Wednesday with 13 bowlers (as the Jrs were absent) and the shot was tough for some and not so for others.

The first game had an average of 204.38, the 2nd 201.92 and the 3rd 187.15...so to say the lanes changed was an understatement.

Now I didn't really watch anyone else except people on my pair, since I was manstrating after my 157/154 start, but Andy put on a show...he was playing the 5th arrow...throwing the ball 20 feet or so onto the lane and was striking like crazy. Reminded me of Robert Smith at Hawthorne a few years ago. Great bowling Andrew...

The field was cut to the top 8 and match play continues next week. Here are the scores and they were mostly low:

Great bowling by Andy, Rob stayed steady all night, Battersby shot 214/214/207 for 3rd, Dennis shot well for 4th, Dan the man powered his way into the semi-finals with a 279 starter and needed ever bit of it as he finished with 194/164...Mr. Smooth, good start, so so second game and then 247 finish to finish 6th, Ryan continues to impress with his 7th place qualifying and Mike R. scabbed in with a 176 finish ater a 200/245 start.

Here is format for next weeks match play:

1) “2-Week Format”:

- Week 1 (Qualifying):

· Bowl 3 games across 3 pairs

· Cut field to a little more than ½ (6 or 8)

Week 2:

· Quarterfinals:

    • Bowl 2 match-play games
    • 1st game: Match-ups are determined by qualifying seeds
    • 2nd game: Winner moves right, Loser moves left
    • 5 bonus pins for winning match
    • Cut 2 bowlers
      • Semifinals & Finals:
    • 1 game of match-play, at a time, the rest of the way
    • Match-ups are determined by qualifying seeds
    • Winners move on
    • If there are an odd number remaining, then high loser also moves on (lowest seed)

Kudos to Dennis on his qualifying and blasting past Lou V in the points race, good going Dennis, you earned it. Tough break for Gimena missing the cut by 6 pins by virtue of his 176 finish, Kevin threw the ball great but got tapped repeatedly and if he missed by a hair…2-4-10 or worse. Pj, died the 3rd game and Mikie D barely beat Lou and that isn’t saying much and Lou Blew…again. Is he finished? Sure seems that way.

The Spring Major concludes next Wednesday.

Leagues Wrap-Up

Congrats to Mike Kasten. Shot 793 and left a wobbly 6 pin in the 10th to be denied his 800…great shooting. Also Grandpa D had the first 8 in the last game and won King…nice going you old fart.
