Kenny H Wins – Justine 2nd (back to back) – Lots of Drama

Runner-Up Justine (2nd week in a row) with New Champion Kenny H.

Lots of drama, a roll off, back to back seconds for Justine, a huge comeback and a new champion all occurred Wednesday Night as the BBT crowned a new Champion, Kenny Hulbert, who really earned it.

When you start the first game of qualifying with 5 opens…that is pretty much it, you are pissed, you are in a hole so deep that it would take a miracle to get out. Well that is what Kenny H did last night. Starting game 1 with 5 opens, the eventual champ crawled his way back from the dead to win his first BBT Title.

Following his opening 154 with a 254, Kenny ended up 8th in qualifying and advanced to the quarter finals. Leading qualifying was Jack W with 264/215 scratch, Grandpa D had it going for a while qualifying second, His son Mike R was 3rd, Battersby continued his good shooting in 4th, Sip, the machine, shot 258/206 for 5th, last weeks champ PJ was 6th, Reinfart 7th, Kenny 8th, 1973 Champ 9th, and Justine, Iwanicki and Alex all tied for the final spot.

Quarter-Finals – We were separated into 4, 3 person matches based upon qualifying with the 2 biggest losers moving on.

Match 1 had Jack, Sip and Lou…Jack pounded everyone with 255 scratch, but Sip also shot 255 and was the biggest loser…Lou shot 146…he blows

Match 2 – This was a great match with Justine, Grandpa D and PJ. Justine held out and won by 6 pins and Dennis edged out PJ by 1 pin after PJ left 8 on the last ball, but Dennis, who is the hard luck bowler of the year, lost the 2nd biggest loser by only 4 pins. Ouch…

Match 3 – Mike R, Reinfart and Iwanicki…blowout, Kevin I wins by 40.

Match 4 – Battersby, Kenny and Alex. Good match, Kenny prevailed and brother Alex squeaked by to get the 2nd biggest loser spot to move to the semi's.

Large Crowd watched the Semi-Finals
Semi-Finals – Match 1 had Iwanicki, Justine and Alex in a pretty good battle, but Kenny edged Iwanicki 224/260 to 207/241 to advance to the finals…young brother Alex…well let's just say he supported his big brother…

The other match was one of the best of the year, easily. Kenny starts with the first 7, looks like it is over, but Sip spares and matches Kenny strike for strike and Jack is behind, but close. Sip closes out with 269 scratch, Jack shoots 254/282 when he doubles and 9 in the 10th meaning that Kenny has to mark to move to the championship match. Steps up…boom….ringing 10 pin…ooops….Kenny needs a spare to win…Monkey Spanker…misses it left…we have ANOTHER ROLLOFF!

9 and 10th, both spare in the 9th, Kenny strikes on the first ball in the 10th and spares, Jack needs a double or X / to tie…goes light, leaves the 2/8 and Kenny advances.

Championship Match – Well after that great semi-final, everything else is anti-climatic but Justine had a chance to be a 2 time champ but Kenny finished off his miracle recovery after the first 5 opens in the first game to pound Justine real good, 220/245 to 179/215. Congrats to Kenny on his first title and Justine, Justine , Justine…keep up the great bowling.
