The Wizard of Waz pulled a little bit of magic out of his hat Wednesday as he beat Andy with three “strikes” in the 10th.

Wazy Robs Andy for his second BBT Win of the Year
Gets a messenger in the 10th to edge Andy

This was one of the better matches in a long time. Andy, who just shot 278 with an open in the semi-finals, started off with a double, continuing his strike fest making it 13 in a row and Wazy knew he was in big trouble. But the Wizard put together a 4 bagger in the 2-6 frames and Andy left 3 9 pin counts in between a strike. Then disaster struck when Andy went a bit light leaving the 2-10.

But when you are good, you are good and Andy steps up and boom, boooooom…boooom goes sheet, finishing with the last 5 strikes. The last strike now forces Wazy to double in the 10th. Now I have seen a million bowling shots and the first strike in the 10th was a very weird hit…but he carried…now the second shot in the 10th, the one needed to win the match, Wazy throws the ball and gets a fairly show messenger and the 10 pin falls for the win. Andy got robbed and Wazy got lucky. I guess that is why we come back each week as the game is never the same.

Here is how it played out.

Qualifying was led by Justine, who is rapidly becoming a favorite of all of us with her great attitude, competitive spirit and she is just pleasant to have around...and she is becoming a pretty good bowler also.

She ran away with qualifying, Wazy was second, Mike D 3rd, Lou finally made a cut in 4th, Andy squeaked in 5th and Reinfart beat Tittie by 1 pin to make it into the final qualifying spot. MIke had a 6 pin count on his fill ball to miss. Back to Back winner Paul Bober...well lets just say...he didn't have a good night finishing in last.

Welcome to Kenny Hulbert who had a rough BBT debut.

We delayed the Fall Major as a few qualifiers were unable to bowl last night. Another fun night, congrats to Waz and Andy and Justine...you will be the first woman to win a BBT title...guaranteed...!

  1. Nah, there wasn't any luck involved, Waz put two shots in the pocket, shots like that are supposed to carry, I would've been the lucky one only if they didn't!

    That 2-10 was killer...

  2. If I was a Cub Fan, I'd be pretty pissed, because ZAMBRANO should have been the starter for Game 1. He gets paid to be the "ACE", but recent times dictated that someone else be the starter and he let more than just his teammates down. Where the heck was Lou(No, not Vasselli) when they needed to have somebody warming up in the bullpen. The Cubs actually have the toughest matchup, because of what the Dodgers have done the past month. Manny Ramirez will be the difference, along with the pitching staff that performs the best during this series.

  3. Andy, you are a very gracious loser. I realize that the shots were there...but you have to "spice" up the blog so people read it.

    Great bowling yourself last night.

  4. You wanna spice up the blog? How the heck are you in the running for the end of the year tournament when you've won exactly $0.00 this year so far...how bout you spice up an answer to THAT one! :-)

Also, is the major going to be next week now?

  5. Andy, why don't you spice this \ /

The major will be re-scheduled after I return from Australia on October 23rd.

  7. For those of you new guys, \/ means a Pete Weber chop. Andy awesome bowling last night, way to step it up when you needed. The win would feel a little less tainted if I dead flushed my strikes like yours were. Yeah, I got the ball to the pocket, but a little carry never hurt anyone. Can't talk about it enough how the BBT is alot more fun with a bunch of great people. Nice shooting again to our little ray of sunshine, Justine. It was also fun kicking your ass in the doubles match.
