Mr. Smooth wins again as Paul Bober wins his 3rd BBT Title

Runner up Dan with 3 time Champ Paul B.

Last week there was some talk of someone getting too much handicap, but this week, handicap didn't matter as Paul Bober with his negative 4 pins of handicap powered his way to his 3rd BBT title of the season beating Dan 210/176 in a match that was much closer than the final score.

Paul, who is bowling just great, qualified 3rd and then blasted his way through match games winning by at least 40 pins each game to set up the final match.

That match was very close up until the end as Dan stuck in the 9th, forcing Bober to double to lock him out. Paul threw the ball well, but left a 4 pin and then struck to force Dan to get 3 in the 10th to tie. But the newlywed to be, came up a bit short, leaving the 2-8, giving Paul his 3rd title of the short season.

Here is how it all played out: Qualifying

Last weeks champion Justine, the first female BBT titlist, continued to impress all of us shooting 252 and 269 SCRATCH for a 599 qualifying total that beat number 2 Kevin by 131 pins. Holy Cow. I crossed with her and the first game she nailed the first 8...I mean nailed them. The 269 was a bit more creative, meaning they were not all nailed, in fact she couldn't miss and carried everything...but that's ok...leading qualifying by 131 pins sets a new BBT record.

As always the cut line was close, in fact Louche Bag, aka 1973 Champ, missed the cut by 1 pin - he blows. (Here is a Dennis - Oh...I left a solid 10 pin, (slap thighs) ... it should have carried...I got robbed)...but I spared and then struck and that is all you can do. Reinfart was 2nd, Paul 3rd, Wazy a steady 4th, Rob F made the cut by 3 pins and Dan by 1 pin.

With 12 bowlers we cut to 6. The quarterfinals were pretty uneventful except for Reinfarts 278, and Rob F's first BBT and first cut for the year being the biggest loser. The magic ended for Justine as she ran out of gas, getting pummeled by Dan, 242/198 and 2 time champ, Wazy, didn't see the truck that ran him over as Paul creamed him 228/187.

Semi-finals - The match of the year was set up as Reinfart Versus Bober...2 of the best BBT bowlers of the year, both with 2 titles, but it wasn't to be as Bober pounded the wee-wee out Reinfart 253/172. In the other semi, Rob F continued to impress, kept his cool and shot great. He need a double in the 10th to beat Dan, but came up a bit light on what I thought was a good shot, losing 242/233. Nice start Rob.

  1. Judging by Dan's smile, where do you think Paul's right hand is? Nice bowling last night you guys. Also, a very nice night of bowling to Rob F. Welcome back kid. Saw Sip give some cash to Will, who was working with Frankie and Rick also. Sip, like Will, a stand up guy. Sure didn't see anyone else pay, and definately not on pre-pay. Saw stupid sock guy come in and bowl and leave, also questioned Justine how much they payed, she got that question right but was speechless when I asked who she payed it to. Also noticed the trick on how to have the screen not count second shots. That was done pretty often. That is as big a peice of shit move as I ever seen.

  2. Just noticed something. A three-peat is when you win 3 in a row dumb-ass, or is that how they asy it in "aboriginal" land?

  4. There will be a new name for the area by lanes 1,2,3&4 before the end of the year. "The Comp Lanes".
