Upper and Lower Falls in Yosemite National Park
I have been very fortunate and have traveled extensively in Europe, Hawaii, the Carribean, Mexico, Canada, the South Pacific etc. but every time I travel to the National Parks of our great country, you realize how beautiful America really is.
I just returned from 2 weeks of a pretty cool vacation. Spent three days at beautiful Yosemite National Park in California. It has stunning scenery, incredible water falls, (in early spring), amazing vistas and those great big California Pine Trees.
It was then off the Las Vegas for three days of fun and visiting with my Mother. Had a great time on the Strip, went to a great restaurant at the Casino where my mother worked for 12 years, had a fabulous dinner at the Mesa Grill in Caesars Palace, ($15.50 for a Martini) had 2!! Went to see the show O at the Bellagio, amazing and spent some fun time downtown.
The gambling part was very un-eventful, since I have turned into an old bitch, playing Slot and Poker machines. Used to play only craps, but after losing $,$$ of dollars, time to play like an old lady.
It was then off to Lake Powell in Arizona. Lake Powell was created in 1963 when the Glen Canyon Dam stopped the waters of the mighty Colorado River, forming a vast blue lake surrounded by beautiful sandstone walls. This popular recreation area is the second largest man-made lake in America, covering a large area in south central Utah and extending 180 miles into Arizona. We took a 7 hour boat trip to see the Rainbow Bridge, the largest natural bridge in the world. Pretty cool.
Next stop was Monument Valley, Utah. This amazing place is property of the Navajo Indians and is located in both Arizona and Utah.
There were over 20 John Wayne westerns shot here and believe me, you thought you were transformed and placed into a Western. You could almost hear the cowboys chasing the Indians and smell the pork and beans cooking on the open fire. It was a great site and something that should be seen by everyone.
