1973 Junior College National Champions - Nassau Community College, Garden City, NY

Nassau Community College 1973 Junior College National Bowling Champions

Well, since I have no scores or BBT results to talk about, how about we reach into the past a bit.

In February of 1973 our bowling team from Nassau Community College, in Garden City, NY, after winning the New York State Jr. College Championship, which I have never mentioned and I also have never mentioned that Lou V was the 1973 NY State Singles Champion...we were off ot Boise, Idaho for the Junior College National Championship.

The tournament had a singles, doubles and team event. As all of you know, Lou V and Frankie Wallitech were the Doubles Champions...but did you know we were also the 1973 Team Champions...that means that I have not one...but 2 National Championships, not counting all of the State titles that I have.

So...now you know the rest of the story...

  1. Were those pictures chiseled into stone or did they invent the paintbrush by then?

  2. The mere fact that New york had a State championship for a Jr College is flippin gay. And being a former Jr College man myself, competition at that level is a step above or equal to a good High School. At Least in the 80's when I qualified for Nationals out of Oakton for golf, we had to still compete with Division 2 & 3 schools.Live in the BITCH

  3. Wazy, you are gay. Married but gay. There are a bunch of community colleges in New York. Just shows you that not only are you gay but stupid.

We bowled against the powerhouses of country when we won the title.

What place did you come in the golf tournament. Did you get a hole in one or just something in your hole...

  5. Flippin gay? Were you abused as a child?

  6. Hey Waz! Who was your coach? When I went there I don't think they had a golf team. At least I don't remember one.

  7. Exactly how many State titles are we talkin about here?

  8. High Schools have state tournaments, not colleges. I can't remember the last time Saracuse played Georgetown for the state championship, can anyone else? I don't recall any Jr colleges being known as a powerhouse. I guess if you don't have a team that can even compete in a simple mens league one must live in the past. When did Boise, Idaho become the mecca for national championships. Pretty soon, Peotone will host the final four. Can't wait to get my tickets.

  9. Wazy, you are very un-informed. Boise is as much a bowling capital as Bozeman, Montana...Baton Rouge, LA, Corpus Christi, TX...etc. (USBC chosen hot beds of bowling)

And yes, there is a state Jr. College Championship...New York is one of the best bowling marketplaces in the world and in the 1970's...the PBA was at its' height...Mark Roth, Johnny Petragila, Ernie Schegle, Mike Lemongello, Teata Semiz, Joey Berardi among others...all came from New York...

So bowling was big time...on the other hand, besides the gay Tour De France...when is the last time anyone heard of a bike race?

  10. Lou, if you are such a bowling God, why do you always need 40+ pins of handicap everytime someone challenges you to a match? I mean one night you want Krone to give you 35 pins of cap...

  11. What Jr. Colleges did they go to? The USBC picks there sites on who is able to host an event for 5-6months, has nothing to do wether they are bowling hotbeds. Chicago will not give up space for that long a time, bowling can't afford it and there's a hotbed. The fact you used the phrase bowling hotbeds, means you are losing it. I love bowling just as much as the next guy, nice try to compare it to cycling dickhead.Lance Armstrong who is a complete jag, earned more money in 1 year than all the combined earnings for the whole PBA tour for the last 5 years combined. Not to mention Cycling is an Olympic sport, oh yeah, not to mention also that cycling is shown not only on ESPN, but OLN, NBC, FOX , CBS, and lets not forget he X-games.Nice try though. Oh yeah Sheryl Crow or Walter's ugly ass bitch? Anybody want to answer that. Not you Lou we already know your taste in women by who you would rather see naked, case closed.

  14. Your sadly misinformed about junior college sports my little wazy friend. They have state and national champions in all sports, men's and women's. Use your computer for more than just looking at naked pictures of Lance Armstrong riding his stationary bike on a vibrator. Is there actually a University named Saracuse? What a douche bag...

  15. Mike D,
When did you go there cause Symonds was the golf coach as well.

  16. No shit Sherlock, he dumped her more than a year ago for an Olson twin. I mean, if you are gonna jump in on somebody elses comment battle, at least be informed.

  17. Louche Bag,
Funny how a man who can name what will be happening next on a certain porn site accuses others of using their computers for that purpose. There is a college named Saracuse I just miss spelled it. I guess your'e not good at sounding out words. Because Saracuse sounds really close to Syracuse.Spent a whole 2 minutes trying to find the Njcaa web site that talked about State championships, couldn't find the mention of anything on the State level. Still, way nothing to brag about beeeaatch.

  18. Oops! I went there in 78/79.Come to think of it,I remember him mentioning that he was the Golf coach. Guess I'm just gettin freakin old! How'd you like him? Pretty even tempered dude on the ball field. Never yelled. When I went into his office for the first time and told him what school I was from, he said he didn't have too much success with guys from that school. I knew he loved me right than and there! Did you guys ever go out of state for any tournaments?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Waz, funniest thing I ever saw was a game we played down in Tennessee after a night out on the town and our right fielder let a fly ball hit him right in the head. Knocked him out cold! Worst game of our lives, only time I ever saw Symonds get really pissed.

  21. Mike D,
The most even tempered coach ever.We also went out of state for both baseball and golf. In golf we had a tourney against the big 10 boys up in Madison. We played well even after a night at a local strip club with coach. Great guy, bought a couple rounds for us as well.

  22. Waz,
Strange? I never remember him wanting to go to a strip club. Guess he was just mellowing out even more by than. Lucky you guys. The worst part about our night out was that we had to be on a bus at the crack of dawn for a 2-hour ride further down state and some of us never got a wink! Oh well! But is was a blast and loads of fun memories. Good ole Richie!
