"It's not about the money, its about respect"...PJ wins first BBT Title!!!

Mike Tittie congratulates PJ on his first BBT Victory

In a great final match in the first BBT of 2008, PJ’s name is finally added to the Champions list after 32 weeks, beating team mate Mike Tittie 207/258 – 232/250.

“It’s not for the money…it is for the respect” PJ said, as the super competitive, successful multi sport athlete has struggled to get the job done on the lanes. But he persisted and finally drank from the cup of victory.

In the championship match, PJ gave Tittie everything he could handle, much to the delight of the crowd, starting with a spare and 5 bagger. Tittie kept close in the match but with a 33 pin handicap difference, Mike was in a deep, deep hole after the blazing start. But PJ started to self destruct, and opened in the 7th and the 9th frames giving Tittie a slight chance.

With that in mind, Mike struck in the 7th and then left a monster ringing 10 in the 8th…I mean ding dong ringing 10...wow…but he struck in the 9th forcing PJ to mark in the 9th and 10th. PJ threw a horrible shot in the 9th, getting a 6 pin count/open and then needed a mark in the 10th to close out Tittie. He gets up throws the ball like ass…leaves a 3/10, the crowd gasps…PJ must spare to close out Tittie…he gets his ball, throws the shot…the crowd watches with hushed anticipation and he MAKES IT!!! Tittie can’t believe it, I can’t believe it…nobody can believe it…PJ now needs to keep the ball on the lane, (which is not a given) and gets a 7 pin count to close out Tittie…what a blast!!! Congrats PJ…we were all pulling for you…you too Tittie.

The road to the final

We had 13 bowlers this week who vied for 6 quarter final spots. After 1 match game, the field was then cut to 4 with the 3 winners and the biggest loser moving on as the wild card for one more match game and then to the the finals.

Here are the qualifying scores:

Semi-Finals - Very good matches with PJ beating super Sip 224/215 in a pretty close match and the best match of the qualifying had featured Dee Versus Tittie.

What a great match. Dee really bowled well and had Tittie on the ropes most of the game. Especially that he was spotting her pins and he had a split/open in the 5th frame and Dee was clean with 2 doubles. In the 9th frame Tittie, who was really throwing his new ball just great, struck and then struck out to force Dee to double in the 10th for the win. She throws a good shot, a tad high, trips the 4 into the 9…a slight wiggle…..match over. Excellent match…watch out for Dee with her new Twisted Fury…she is throwing it just great.

Pictured left, is Dee congratulating Mike after the match...
