After shooting 679 in the league for 4 games, who in their right mind would think that he would win the biggest Mini-Eliminator of the year?
Not me...but Rob proved that a blind squirrel can find a nut as he outlasted three time champion Chalupa to win his first Mini-Eliminator Tuesday.
12 bowlers shot a 2 game qualifier, the field was cut to 6 for one more game and then stepladder finals.
Once again, Joe C was the hard luck winner of the night by missing qualifying by 3 pins...1 pin last week (ouch) and 4 time champ Sip, also missed by 3 pins. Last weeks finalist Andy missed the cut by 6 pins.
The second qualifier was pretty boring as Jeff, Lou and Reinfart blew and Rob, Chalupa and Alfred E. Neuman ran away with the field.
In the Match 1, Alfred could not get anything going and Chalupa, fueled tonight after a visit to the new Taco Burritto King on Touhy avenue, won 207 to 180.
The championship match started off as if Rob was going to get his monkey spanked, opening the first frame and missing a one pin spare in the 5th, but Chalupa, probably suffering from indigestion from the bean burritto, could not mount a charge and Rob struck on the last 6 shots to win his first title.
Here are the scores:
|1||Alfred E. Neuman||268||215||483|
|Did Not Qualify|
|3||Alfred E. Neuman||233|
|Alfred E Neuman||180|
